BLUE COAST VINEYARDS DEBUTS THIS FALL

French Wine-in-a-Box to Capture New Wave of Wine Drinkers

September 21, 2009, New York, NYBlue Coast Vineyards, a new wine-in-a-box from the Mediterranean Region of Southern France, will debut its eye-catching brand of high-quality, modern, and affordable wines to East Coast markets this fall.  Blue Coast Wine Imports (www.bluecoastwines.com), an established, New York based, importer of premium and boutique French wines and the importer of its namesake Blue Coast Vineyards, will be showcasing its products to retailers starting in late September.  Blue Coast Vineyards’ initial offerings include Chardonnay and Merlot, two of America’s favorite grape varietals, in a striking blue, convenient, 3-liter box.  This attractively priced wine-in-a-box holds the equivalent of four bottles.  The Blue Coast Vineyards Merlot and Chardonnay are easy-to-drink, rich in flavor, with low tannins and acidity – the perfect every day wine for consumers.

“Americans are becoming increasingly more sophisticated about wines, making them more receptive to new and innovative packaging of high-quality wines,” said Shari F. Israel, President of Blue Coast Wine Imports.  “The time is right to introduce the wine-in-a-box format highlighting varietals from France that are widely known and embraced by U.S. consumers.”  Packaged in a state-of-the-art, cutting-edge facility at the heart of the Rhone Valley in the South of France, the interior of the box features a durable, vacuum-sealed bag that prevents wine from oxidizing quickly.  This feature enables the wine to maintain its integrity for up to eight weeks after opening if properly stored.  The exterior box, an octagonal shape, features a Provence blue color with “Blue Coast Vineyards” written in sleek, red letters.  Made with100% recyclable cardboard, it eliminates the use of cork and glass that lends to the sustainability message of the brand and speaks to an eco-conscious consumer. In addition, using no cork avoids the issue of corked wines.

Blue Coast Vineyards Chardonnay (100%) exhibits a pale golden color, and light, smooth, fruit-forward flavors, with hints of tropical fruit on the nose.  Blue Coast Vineyards Merlot (100%) exhibits rich, cherry and blackberry notes.  This medium-bodied, crimson colored wine is both complex yet easy-to-drink with a long, spicy, and smooth finish.  “Our wines are vibrant, clean, and fresh -- representative of French wine-making from the Rhone and Provence” said Jean-Pierre Galateau, Vice President, Business Development, Blue Coast Wine Imports. “The French love drinking excellent wines from the ‘tap,’ an experience captured with wine-in-a-box.”  Blue Coast Vineyards wine-in-box products do not require aging and can be enjoyed when purchased.

Blue Coast Vineyards arrives at a time when consumers are actively seeking discounts without compromising quality.  “Our value is unmatched -- people do not have to spend large amounts of money to enjoy food-friendly, delicious French wines every day,” said Shari F. Israel.  For those who enjoy a glass or two of wine daily, wine-in-a-box provides a perfect solution for having a great wine that lasts. For restaurants and lounges, Blue Coast Vineyards is ideal for a wine-by-the-glass program, offering customers hiqh quality French wines at an affordable cost while making it simple and accessible for wait staff to quickly serve guests.

The French Riviera --the breathtaking, romantic and historic travel destination -- is the inspiration for the Blue Coast Vineyards brand.  The brand was created to make modern French wines more approachable to the average consumer while adding a touch of French flair to every day wine drinking.
